Bringing Little Sprinkles of Joy into the Classroom Through Chrome Extensions

Kids can’t learn from people they don’t like. PERIOD.  A little laughter in the classroom can change the entire classroom culture and environment.  The few seconds it takes to incorporate a little joy, can be the engagement difference for students.  These are a few chrome extensions that I found that can add that little sprinkle of joy into the classroom and they don’t take that much extra time.  If you are new to chrome extensions or need help learning how to download a chrome extension, go to: https://teachthrivetriumph.blogspot.com/2020/05/basic-one-click-chrome-extensions-every.html

Emoji Keyboard for Chrome 😍

This extension is a ton of fun! It is really a couple extension in one. You can add emoji's to LMS pages or documents, you can create audio clippings, change your cursor, or have access to copy and pasting of new fonts. Watch the video below for more details...

Bitmoji

Bitmoji allows you to create a little cartoon character of yourself. It is a very popular extension that a lot of people use with social media. I like to add bitmoji's to my LMS pages. One great hack about bitmoji is that any of the words that you type in the search bar will show up on your bitmoji character, which allows you to personalize anything the bitmoji is saying!

Giphy for Chrome

This extension lets you search for different fun GIFs. Once you find a GIF that you like, you can copy it to any document that you are working on. I like to copy these on my google slides.

Animated Tabs - A New GIF on Every Tab

This a super silly one that I have on my computer. Any time you open a new tab a GIF plays. This is a fun reward that I use for the students. They love earning a GIF, which just means that at the end of class they can watch a quick 3-5 second GIF. Since it is on any new tab I open, it is so easy to access.

Colorzilla

This chrome extension is a wonderful hack to help you perfectly match colors. I use this all the time in google slides.

While these are simple extensions that do not require lots of time, they do give your classroom a little extra flair of happiness.
